The commune of Maglavit offers a special tourist setting that combines the spiritual charge of the famous Maglavit Monastery with the untouched natural landscapes of the Danube and the Balta Maglavit Nature Reserve.

Each route is designed to offer visitors relaxation, outdoor adventure and connection with the local community.

Highlights of the Routes

  • Maglavit Monastery: Known throughout the country for the history of the Vision of Petrache Lupu from 1935.
  • Balta Maglavit: Protected area of avifaunistic interest, ideal for birdwatching and fishing.
  • Danube & Ostroavele: Spectacular landscapes of the old river at the southern border.
Starting point: Center of Maglavit commune. The route includes visiting the Parish Church, stopping at the Fountain of Petrache Lupu and arriving at the Maglavit Monastery with its centuries-old oaks and the worship chapel. Ideal for pilgrims and local history buffs.
Recommended route for hiking or mountain biking. It runs along the dirt roads and dikes that border the Maglavit Pond, an area with specific vegetation of the pond and protected birds (herons, egrets, pelicans). The route goes directly to the bank of the Danube river.
Road and bicycle route connecting Maglavit with Calafat Municipality (Calafat Citadel, Art Museum, River Port) and Cetate Cultural Port. A scenic route along the river, dotted with viewpoints.
